Ducks Walking on Fish
Author: Wes | Filed under: FREE Stationery, Site Information Monday Jan 26,2009Hi Scrapbook and Stationery Friends,
Yesterday, we took a short trip to Lake Majave near Bullhead City in Arizona. What we saw astounded and entertained us to no end…
We found a place where the Carp (fish) are so thick when you feed them that the wild ducks litterally walk on them to get to the food too! If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the photo… click on it for a larger version.
Kathy and Wes’ mom, Donna along with our friend Carol had a ball feeding the carp and the ducks… there were even a flock of pigeon getting in on the popcorn action.
As you can see from the next image, the girls were all smiles and couldn’t believe how the ducks were literally walking on all the carp.
It was so funny watching the lake carp stick their whole heads out of the water trying to get the popcorn before the ducks could steal it away. At times we had to have one person feeding the wild ducks so that the others could feed the lake carp some of the popcorn. As you walked along the docks, the lake carp would be following you and begging for food…

Motorhome Trip Photos – London Bridge
Author: Wes | Filed under: FREE Stationery, Site Information Friday Jan 23,2009Well, we made it to Nevada today…
Had another great day today and the first long trip in the new AerBus Motorhome is going great. Some of the roads were pretty rough today, but all in all it was nice. It was supposed to rain this evening, but nothing came down here.
We made it into Lake Havasu NV this afternoon and after parking at the Havasu Falls RV Resort… great place with very friendly people… we headed out to see London Bridge and walk the east walkway.

Kathy Waddell at the East Gateway to the London Bridge.
Here’s Kathy at the East Gate near the Visitors Center…
As you can see, the sky was a bit cloudy, but it was just above 70 degrees outside and calm. A perfect day to go exporing and walking.
The next image on the right is of the fountain just inside the east gate to London Bridge. It

had quite a few coins with wishes in it and all the coins are donated to the bridge preservation society.
From the fountain, it’s just a few hundred feet and you are standing below the London Bridge itself…
It’s amazing to think that they really took this bridge appart in the UK, transported it all over here and then put it all back together. Some of the stones are huge and the effort and care it must have taken is mind boggling.

Here’s one of the images I snapped while standing on a balcony in the little walkway of shops that are below the bridge.
I also snapped a couple of shots of the walking/biking path that leads to the south end of the channel that they dug from Lake Havasu into and out past the north side of the bridge. You can littlerally boat from the lake and go under the bridge and out the other end back to the lake.

The first image shows some of the shops… or what used to be shops. As you can see, most of the shops have gone out of business and have closed in the slow economy.
Which also leads me to my second note… notice that there are few, if any people in my photo images?
It was a really beautiful January day (Thursday the 22nd) and there wasn’t but a hand full of people there the whole 2 plus hours that we spent exploring the London Bridge walkway and what shops were left.

The birds and ducks largely outnumbered the people!
I should note that the West side of the channel had a great park with a large fenced in dog park attached to it and it was full of people playing basketball, running their dogs and enjoying all the playground equipment. There was a benifit for kids going on and most of the activities were on the other side of the bridge.
But, you would still think that some of the traffic would have spilled over to the walkway too… wouldn’t you? Everyone says things are a lot slower than last year. Even the brand new mall that is just finishing up is half empty. More signs of the times I guess.
Makes for some really great photos for me to use to create digital scrapbook and stationery templates from though.

The one last note I have is that there are 4 really neat (I know shows my age…) miniture light houses; one on each side of each end of the bridge channel. I got photos of them and the beach front park just before the sun began to set.
With the palm trees, it reminded me of Maui Hawaii were we were the middle of December. The warm day felt like it too. I’ll leave you with just a couple of the images of the lighthouse and beach park in Lake Havasue…

Tomorrow we head up to Laughlin and Quartsite for the big desert swap meet.
Can’t wait to show you the photos from there.
Don’t forget you can save these images and use them to create great digital scrapbook backgrounds and digital stationery templates.
Until then,
Kathy and Wes
