Trouble Printing FREE Digital Stationery Pages

Author: Wes | Filed under: FREE Stationery, Training Friday Mar 13,2009

We just got this message in this morning to our FREE Digital Stationery website.  As we get this every so often, I thought that I would post it here with the answer in hopes that it helps some of you that may have the same problem with printing FREE Stationery pages.

Your digital stationery designs are fabulous.  I have one question.  When I print them out it seems to cut off a portion of the design at the bottom.  The design does not go to the bottom edge of the paper as it does at the top.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thanks.

Hi C,

This usually happens when your printer is not capable or not set to borderless print mode.  If you are printing the PDF versions, use the print menu in Adobe Reader or the PDF program you are using to set the print parameters so that the whole page prints within your printers limits.

If your printer is borderless print capable, then setting the PDF settings to “Size to Fit Page” or “Shrink to Fit Page” usually works as long as you also have your printer settings set to borderless.

If you are using the Word Template or the .JPG file to create your own, then your use the printer settings within that program or in the print configuration menu itself.

Unfortunately, every printer is different, so you may have to play with the settings a bit to find the ones that work with your printer best.

Hope that this at least helps…

Wes

Ducks Walking on Fish

Author: Wes | Filed under: FREE Stationery, Site Information Monday Jan 26,2009

Hi Scrapbook and Stationery Friends,

Yesterday, we took a short trip to Lake Majave near Bullhead City in Arizona.  What we saw astounded and entertained us to no end…

We found a place where the Carp (fish) are so thick when you feed them that the wild ducks litterally walk on them to get to the food too!  If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the photo… click on it for a larger version.

Kathy and Wes’ mom, Donna along with our friend Carol had a ball feeding the carp and the ducks… there were even a flock of pigeon getting in on the popcorn action.

As you can see from the next image, the girls were all smiles and couldn’t believe how the ducks were literally walking on all the carp.

It was so funny watching the lake carp stick their whole heads out of the water trying to get the popcorn before the ducks could steal it away.  At times we had to have one person feeding the wild ducks so that the others could feed the lake carp some of the popcorn.  As you walked along the docks, the lake carp would be following you and begging for food…

We were just on the boat docks outside the visitor center at Lake Mojave – Katherines Landing… if you can believe that.  The carp, ducks, pigeons and other birds just hang out there waiting for nice people like us to come feed them.
If you don’t bring popcorn like we did, the visitors center sells some food for them too.
Here’s the image I took standing on the deck of the visitors center looking out over the boat docks.  You’ll notice that you have no problems seeing all the fat ducks and carp in the water… just watch were you step on the docks as the ducks are not the cleanest of birds!

One last image for you before we head off today to get some errands run…
Here’s a photo of one of the other birds that was hanging out with his buddies in the trees outside the visitors center.  Not sure what kind of bird it is, but they are all over southern California, Arizona and Nevada.

Don’t forget that you can click on any of the images for a larger view that you can save and use as your digital scrapbook background or as digital stationery background papers.
Hope you are having as great a week as we are…
Until tomorrow…

Laughing Goats…

Author: kwaddell | Filed under: FREE Stationery, Site Information Wednesday Aug 6,2008

The Elbert County Fair was so fun... even the goats were laughing and smiling.
Hi Scrapbook and Stationery Friend,

Kathy and I took our two oldest granddaughters, 10 and 7, to the Elbert County Fair here in Colorado this last weekend.  As you can see to our left, everyone was having so much fun… even the Goats were laughing!

This one loved the girls and was making all kinds of faces and noises at them.

If you wish, you can click on the image to get a larger version of the image in a new window or tab.Rodeo Queen\'s division barrel racing photograph.

Not only did we get to see and interact with lots of different animals, we had a great time watching the two rodeo’s that day.  Yes, there were two different rodeo’s on the same day!

They had a regular rodeo that most everyone is used to seeing with roping, riding and barrel racing such as in the image to the right we took of the Rodeo Queen’s division of barrel racing.

Yes, you can click on that barrel racing photo and get a larger version.

Colorado Ranch Rodeo Culling Event photo image. The second rodeo was a “Ranch Rodeo”.  It has events that are in line with what they really do on a working ranch.  Events such as culling cattle, team roping and branding with a paint marker (that’s just one event.)  Here’s an image of one of the teams culling (separating) one of the numbered cows.  As a team of 4 riders approaches the heard of about 18 numbered cows, the anouncer calls out one of the numbers and the team must then seperate that one cow from the rest of the heard.

Next, they must get it across the line (where the flagman is at on the fence), rope it by the head and rear feet (just like in team roping in a standard rodeo) and finally mark the cows rear end with a paint marker to simulate branding the animal.  All this while keeping the cow from rejoining the Ranch Rodeo Roping photo image.heard.  If it gets back into the heard… it’s a no time.

They also had an event that was almost the same, but instead of roping both ends, they can only rope the head and then must brand (with a paint marker) the cow by getting off the horse and holding it steady by hand.

We enjoyed the “Ranch Rodeo” just as much or even more than the regular one.  It was amazing how often the cows won!  It’s tough with only 4 riders and such a large arena to keep the determined cow from getting back into the heard.  The teams that did succeed were very skilled and no one had times under two minutes.

So, if you haven’t been to your local fair lately, you’re in for guite a treat and a really good time when you go.  We sure had a great day!
